The Story of the "Bull of Scapa Flow"
The U-47 was a Type VIIB ocean-going submarine, launched in October 1938. It entered service in December of the same year under the command of Günther Prien, one of the most famous and at the same time most controversial commanders of the German submarine force.

At the beginning of the war, the U-47 became widely known for a daring operation carried out on the British Home Fleet base at Scapa Flow. The lone attack on the heavily guarded port resulted in the sinking of the battleship HMS Royal Oak and caused a huge stir on both sides of the conflict. During subsequent patrols in the Atlantic, the U-47 was one of the most effective units in terms of tonnage sunk. However, this was part of a brutal naval war in which technology, tactics and ruthlessness determined the fate of thousands of people.

The story of the U-47 ended suddenly in March 1941. The ship disappeared in the North Atlantic with its entire crew, and the circumstances of its loss remain one of the unsolved mysteries of submarine warfare to this day.
Historical Markings and Symbol on the Hull
The model faithfully reproduces the historical markings of the vessel, including the distinctive emblem placed on the side of the conning tower, the so-called "Bull of Scapa Flow." This symbol was the personal insignia of the crew and directly referred to the famous operation of 1939.
It is worth emphasizing that COBI is increasingly using accurate, historical markings on its submarine models, responding to the expectations of collectors and history enthusiasts who value accuracy, realism and context, rather than a simplified narrative.
